I had some quiet time recently and I decided I would shoot for myself! What a gift for a Creative to be able to step aside from the prescriptions and briefings of a contract and allow your inner artist to speak for themselves.
My inspiration was the beautiful Gustav Klimt painting: The Kiss, a life-long favourite of mine.
I spent about a month researching the painting, looking at images that had been recreated of The Kiss. I was amazed to find a massive array of depictions, copies, animations, and cosplay references to this beautiful masterpiece. Even a couple of tattoos! Disney gets a bit of the Klimt Midas touch through some gorgeous fan art too.
Well, with all that visual inspiration, and a swaddle of golden fabric, ribbons and chiffon from my local material shop, I set to work..
I'm not going to lie - it was tough. I'm not a seamstress. There was a lot of cutting and glueing and stitching and swearing and unpicking and remeasuring and hoping and praying and dyeing and bribing. And then the lighting and posing and freezing and checking and readjusting and laughing and straining and shooting and editing. But in the end, this:

How'd I do?

Truth is, I loved creating this image. I would so be up for doing something like this again if the opportunity came up.
